American Artists
GRADE LEVEL(S): Art II (Prerequisite Art I)
CURRICULUM/SUBJECT AREA: Art
OHIO ACADEMIC CONTENT STANDARDS: Describe various sources (e.g., personal experience, imagination, interests, every day events and social issues) visual artists use to generate ideas for artworks. Explain how art historians, historians, curators, anthropologists and philosophers contribute to our understanding of art history. Explain the circumstances and events that influence artists to create monuments and site-specific works.
SPECIFIC TOPIC: American Artists
CONTENT INFORMATION: The Pathfinder provides sophomore students doing American Artist research projects with a list of books, videos, electronic resources and selected web sites that will assist them in locating information on American Artist and their works. Specifically, this document was created to aid students engaged in locating information on the major influences appearing in the most well known American Artist and their works. There is so much information available to students in the area of American Artists, students often become confused about where to begin or what resources are most appropriate for an assignment. The art instructor and the Media Specialist, will help guide students in their research investigation.
